ACTION RESEARCH PROJECT AND PEER LEARNING SET
Creative Scene is launching a new opportunity for arts and cultural organisations to benefit from a groundbreaking action research initiative. Working as part of a West Yorkshire Action Research set, you will join peers in the region to develop new approaches that can help your organisation engage with new audiences.
Arts Council England’s ten-year draft strategy has identified widespread socio-economic and geographic variances in levels of engagement with publicly funded culture. Creative Scene’s work as one of the Creative People and Places projects has started to address this in the neighbourhoods of Dewsbury and Batley & Spen, and they now want to develop approaches that can widen opportunities for lesser-engaged audiences to take part in the vibrant arts and cultural scene in the West Yorkshire region.
The Action Research Learning Set is a unique development opportunity for participation or audience engagement professionals. It will allow space for strategic thinking as well as practical delivery of innovative audience development ideas. It will place participating arts and cultural organisations at the forefront of knowledge development on audience research and enable them to pilot approaches that can enhance the cultural ecology of West Yorkshire and the mobility of audiences across the region.
Financial awards are available between £3000 and £5000, alongside mentoring, membership of a regional Action Research Peer Learning group, and support to present your research at a regional Symposium in Autumn 2020.
