Can you tell us a bit about the piece of work you're exhibiting as part of the ArtWorks Together International Exhibition 2023?

The drawing was made with watercolour, beeswax and black gouache. In the process all the drawing appears when I dig the gouache, is like a metaphor, has I am digging myself to learning to unmask and be free of some the behaviors that are only important for other people to feel more comfortable around me.

I found in intuitive abstract drawing a way to share deep emotions that can’t be explained by words. This drawing came from self reflection, and is the end of a series of 32 small drawings with the same tecchnique.

Why do you create?

New explorations and self growth are the main reasons why I create. Drawing has always been an exploration tool for constant learning, personal growth and introspection. There is a search for detail and movement in  all my compositions.

Do you consider yourself to be part of an artist network/community, and if so, how does this impact your practice?

No. I have always worked alone and yet, the few times that I had the possibility to share my work with other artists/creators, their influence is something that improved myself and consequently my artwork. To meet other artists that share the same values as inclusion and sustainability would be just amazing!

What changes would you like to see in the arts sector?

More openness to new creators with initiatives that allow them to share their work, in order to be accessible to everyone, without discrimination.
