EDIA Meeting - 10th April 2024

We invite you to this meeting run under the Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility group which explores different topics and issues within the creative sector, where speakers bring knowledge from their speciality and there is space for questions and discussions relating to the topic of the meeting.

Wednesday 10th April 2024, 1-2pm on Zoom.

This meeting we plan to discuss Safer Spaces. Safer Spaces are supportive environments that encourage openness, respect and awareness of different backgrounds and privileges we may hold. YVAN's Safer Spaces agreement is based on Social Art Networks Safer Spaces agreement.

Think about the spaces you have experienced in the creative sector and whether they feel like a Safe space based on these guidelines. How can we create more Safer Spaces and who needs to be involved to take action on this?

If you have any questions or thoughts please send them to info@yvan.org.uk. We will use some of these to facilitate part of the discussion. It is an opportunity to share resources, experiences and knowledge on the subject. You are also welcome to just come along and see if anything arises during the meeting.

About the EDIA group

The Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility group is a development of a previous internal working group at YVAN. The group aims to challenge current practices, show commitment to mental and physical wellbeing and share knowledge, bringing together voices and lived experiences to help the creative and cultural sector in the Yorkshire and Humber region make better decisions.

We have a meeting every 6 weeks, each with a different topic, so you can come to those sessions of particular relevance.

YVAN do not claim to be the benchmark on EDIA in the arts and acknowledge we will fail on occasion, but we are working towards best practice, alongside our national network through the Fair and Equitable campaign.
